Sump Pump FAQs
How long does a sump pump last?
Like many appliances and equipment in your house, your sump unit won’t last forever. The average lifespan of a common household pump is about 10 years. If you have visible rust, irregular cycling, or your pump never turns off, you made want to consider a repair or replacement. Regular maintenance will prevent premature failure and unseen collateral damage to your home or business.
How often should a sump pump run?
A sump’s run cycle depends on the quality of the unit, and the amount of water that comes in your pit. High-quality units can usually run for 20-24 hours straight whereas a lower-quality sump unit could run for 6-18 or less. After that, always remember to give your pump a break.
How much does a sump pump cost?
Having a new sump pump installed can cost anywhere from $100 to $3,000, although the national average cost falls around $1,000. If you follow the right maintenance routine, your sump system should last for roughly 10 years. In general, it is considered to be a decent investment for your home or business.
